If you’re dreaming of a waterfront wedding in New England, it doesn’t get much more beautiful than Belle Mer in Newport, Rhode Island. Sitting directly on Narragansett Bay with panoramic water views, crisp white architecture, manicured lawns, and one of the best sunset locations in the area, Belle Mer is truly one of my favorite venues to photograph. Victoria and Joey’s wedding is everything that makes this venue so unforgettable—classic, elegant, joyful, and filled with incredible moments from beginning to end.

The day begins inside Belle Mer’s bright bridal suite, where natural light pours through the oversized windows. It is the kind of space photographers dream about. Every detail, from Victoria’s timeless wedding gown to her pearl accessories and elegant bouquet, feels elevated by the soft light surrounding the room. Her gown features a dramatic bow and beautifully structured silhouette that complements Belle Mer’s clean, coastal aesthetic perfectly.

Joey spends the morning getting ready with his groomsmen before heading outside for one of the most anticipated moments of the day—the couple’s first look. Victoria walks toward him along Belle Mer’s waterfront with her veil moving in the coastal breeze. With the Newport Pell Bridge in the distance and the sparkling water surrounding them, the setting could not be more beautiful.

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings at Belle Mer is how effortlessly beautiful every part of the property is. Whether we are walking along the waterfront, creating portraits on the iconic white stone terrace, or using the venue’s modern architecture as a backdrop, every location feels editorial while still remaining timeless.
The bright white surfaces reflect the natural light beautifully, creating soft and flattering portraits throughout the day. The waterfront and Newport Bridge also give every photograph an unmistakable sense of place that feels uniquely Rhode Island.

Victoria and Joey exchange vows on Belle Mer’s waterfront lawn with Narragansett Bay behind them. A lush white floral arch frames the ceremony space while sunlight sparkles across the water. The ocean breeze catches Victoria’s veil as she and Joey stand together in front of their family and friends.
This ceremony location is one of the reasons Belle Mer is such a remarkable Newport wedding venue. The expansive water views create an incredible backdrop without needing much additional décor. The natural scenery is already breathtaking.

After the ceremony, Victoria and Joey celebrate with their wedding party before we step away for portraits around the property. Belle Mer offers so much variety without requiring the couple to leave the venue. We create classic portraits on the waterfront, romantic images overlooking the bridge, and joyful photographs together on the lawn.
Victoria’s structured gown looks incredible against Belle Mer’s bright coastal setting, while Joey’s black suit creates a timeless contrast. Their portraits feel polished and editorial, but their laughter and connection keep every photograph relaxed and genuine.
As the afternoon turns into evening, golden hour arrives, and Belle Mer transforms once again. The warm sunset stretches across Narragansett Bay, surrounding Victoria and Joey with the softest golden light. The sun lowers behind the bridge and reflects across the water, creating one of the most romantic settings in Newport.
We step outside for a few quiet moments together as the reception continues inside. This is always one of my favorite parts of photographing a Belle Mer wedding. The waterfront faces the evening light beautifully, giving couples the opportunity to create glowing sunset portraits without traveling away from their guests.

Inside, Belle Mer’s reception space feels equally stunning. The bright white ballroom, sparkling chandeliers, sweeping staircase, and black-and-white dance floor create the perfect combination of modern luxury and coastal elegance.
Victoria and Joey continue the timeless black-and-white color palette throughout the reception. White florals and greenery line the staircase, candles add warmth to the room, and the clean interior allows every carefully planned detail to stand out. Belle Mer’s neutral design gives couples the freedom to make the space feel completely their own.

Once dinner and speeches conclude, the celebration truly begins. Victoria changes into a fun reception dress, and the dance floor stays packed as guests laugh, sing, and dance together. The black-and-white floor creates such a striking backdrop for the energy of the reception.
Victoria and Joey remain right in the middle of the celebration throughout the night. Their guests wave light-up sticks, fill the dance floor, and create the kind of joyful, unpredictable moments that make wedding photography so rewarding. The candid images feel energetic, playful, and completely true to the atmosphere of the evening.

Before the night comes to a close, Victoria and Joey climb into a vintage getaway car for one final portrait session. The classic car adds a cinematic, old-Hollywood feeling to the evening and pairs beautifully with Belle Mer’s timeless coastal aesthetic.
Under the night sky, the couple shares a few quiet moments together inside and beside the car. These portraits feel intimate and playful while adding something completely different to the story of their wedding gallery.

Victoria and Joey’s wedding ends with an incredible bubble grand exit. Family and friends gather outside and fill the walkway with hundreds of floating bubbles as the couple runs hand-in-hand toward their waiting vintage car.
The bubbles catch the light as Victoria and Joey laugh, kiss, and celebrate one final time with their guests. It is such a joyful and visually beautiful ending to the day—and the perfect final chapter of their Belle Mer wedding.

Belle Mer is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Newport because it offers luxury, coastal charm, and incredible versatility in one location. Couples can host their entire celebration on the property while enjoying waterfront ceremonies, modern indoor receptions, beautiful natural light, and breathtaking sunset portraits.
The clean white architecture feels elevated without competing with the couple or their wedding design. The grounds provide sweeping views of Narragansett Bay, while the Newport Pell Bridge creates an iconic backdrop in the distance. From the light-filled bridal suite to the waterfront lawn and elegant ballroom, every part of Belle Mer photographs beautifully.
For couples planning a refined New England wedding, Belle Mer offers the atmosphere of a destination celebration while remaining close to downtown Newport.
